Character Name: Ted Wiggins
Series: The Lorax
Timeline: End of the movie, right after he plants the seed in the middle of Thneedville.

Character Background:Ted’s role in the book is simply a generic no-name boy who comes to The Once-ler’s home to ask about a time when the air and water were clean and when animals and trees were around. However, in the movie adaption, (which is where I am taking Ted from), he is given a name and a purpose for initially making the trek out of the city and to the mysterious Once-ler’s home in the form of a high-school redhead crush named Audrey. He would do anything for her, which he proves by risking his life a couple of times in order to try and get her a tree.
Ted is a kind, yet determined boy who will do anything for the love of his crush. As the story progresses, however, Ted realizes there is more to finding a way for trees to return than simply doing it for Audrey. Once he becomes more involved by listening to The Once-ler’s story, he fights to plant the last truffula tree seed in the middle of the city. He goes so far as to venture out of the city limits by jumping a wall on his bike, knocking down the city wall with a stolen bulldozer, venturing miles out of town to where he’s never been, and facing off against Mr. O’Hare, the man who sells air and practically runs Thneedville.
Ted is usually polite to all those he meets, even if they're his enemies. He will deal with the oddities of others with a calm air to him, not seeming to be weirded out by anything. Evidence: When The Once-ler tells his story of the magical being named The Lorax, he just sits forward to listen up, not making a face doubting his story for even a moment. He will try to deal with any problem as calmly as possible, showing he is a fairly relaxed and cool-headed 14-year old boy.
He also has a fondness for trees and nature after Audrey shows him what they were. In Thneedville, most people have never known what trees were since The Once-ler cut down each and every tree while selling his thneeds, so when Audrey painted the back of her house with images of the long-gone plants with soft colorful tufts and the scent of butterfly milk,whatever that means, he is instantly amazed and becomes determined to find one of the trees for Audrey, sending him on a journey that would change the world for the better.
Abilities/Special Powers: No special powers. Other than having millions of gallons of bravery!
Third-Person Sample:
When a 14-year old wakes up in a place they have never seen before, usually their first instinct is to panic.
Now, when a 14-year old boy wakes up in a place they have never seen before with no recollection of falling asleep, IT’S KIND OF TIME TO FREAK OUT A LITTLE.
“Woah, ok…” He looked around the room quickly, taking into account that this was definitely not the middle of Thneedville. This was inside. In some room he’s never seen. Ted stood up and looked out the window, his brown eyes looking at the gardens and the exterior of what seemed to be a mansion. Good thing about this place was those weird green things in the distance that kind of looked like trees.
Nevertheless, this was still weird. He decided he needed to get out of here and fast so he could get home, make sure his mom wasn’t looking for him. After he seen Audrey, of course.
He went to the door quickly, opening it and looking out into the hallway. He thought maybe Mr.O’Hare had kidnapped him since he saved the trees and all that. Though, without his bodyguards to do the work, the short man probably couldn’t have done this. When nobody was out there, he wandered out and looked at all of the rooms curiously.
He made a determined face before calling out,”Hello?...” he continued to make his way down the hall to try to find the exit. “Is anybody here?”
First-Person Sample:
[Ted's looking a bit frowney-faced right now since he's been told he probably wouldn't find a way out of Wonderland. Well, not so much a frown than disgruntled determination against the odds.
He looked to the camera a moment and shrugs.]
Alright… So, I get that most people don't get out of here…
[He makes a face as if that's no big deal.]
but I’m going to try! And if anybody want to come along with me, we can help each other out or something. Unless you all like it here, then you know. Whatever.
